Thank you for visiting the Robot Award of the Year held at the International Robot Exhibition (IREX) 2009.
The 21 robots that received awards in the past three exhibits were on display at the International Robot Exhibition 2009. Total attendance over the four days exceeded 100,000 people and our booth had a large number of visitors.
Service robots, industrial robots, public and frontier robots as well as robot parts and software were on display. A broad range of people visited every day, from robot developers and users to prospective buyers, including adults and children.
One attendee (a woman in her twenties), upon touching a robot created with on the theme of Iyashi, a feeling of healing and comforting, expressed her impression as “Touching this robot and watching its reactions made me think it was alive”. Another attendee (a woman in her thirties) visited the nursing robot and stated “I work in the nursing field. I would like to get a robot that is gentle and can put itself in a person’s place and has the physical strength I don’t have”. A man in his forties said “I was impressed by seeing robots so close up because I had never seen real robots, only those in websites and catalogs”. He was pleased to experience so many robots that he could see, touch and feel.
